RentRankings.com

If you are the owner of a website listing on RentRankings.com, you might be wondering how you can improve your ranking - especially since the majority of our users focus on the top 5 or top 10 sites in a given city.

The only way to move up (and stay up) in the rankings is to improve your site... and the best way to do that is to see what the top-ranked sites look like, and learn from those sites. These sites are generally simple and clean, and have plenty of listings using a map-oriented listing service - housingmaps.com and Toronto's viewit.ca are good examples. This is what apartment hunters seem to find most useful.

We do *NOT* modify the rankings manually in any way. We have a few checks in place to monitor potential cheating in the rankings, but generally we rely on users to rank the sites properly. The only way to move up in the rankings is to create a great site that people find useful. If you believe that you have done this, but the rankings do not reflect it, you can direct users of your site to our voting system, as MoveMap.com has done in the bottom left of the website. (If your site links to us, let us know, and we'll list you here.)

The idea is that if you are ranked 20th and aren't receiving many votes/visitors through our site, the visitors from your site can come and vote directly for you. Your site might rise... but it will only stay high in the rankings if your site truly deserves the ranking. If you're site isn't actually good enough, our users are eventually going to knock it back down again.
